Senior Project Plans
Let us know what you hope to do for senior projects. Do you have any ideas that are already in motion? If you are a cinematographer or an editor, it is expected that you will shoot or edit a project. Are you already part of a group? If you are a writer, it is expected that you write a short film for a senior project that you will also produce or that you write a feature script. Tell us about those ideas. You don’t have to have anything set in stone, but you will need to be ready to go with this by Spring of the next year... so it’s good to start thinking early. Refer to the Senior Projects sheet available on the DCP website.
I’d be interested in shooting one of my short scripts. They range from “great” to “melodramatic” to “okay”, but all of them have interesting demands created by the genre that would make shooting, directing, and performing an interesting challenge. In addition, I think the script would be of sufficient interest.
However, after surveying the Senior Project requirements and considering my resources (my family lives abroad and I have limited income), I think it might be a better use of resources to just write a feature-length screenplay. Successful shootings are often dependent on good finances or having family in the neighborhood that can do things for free for you, and since I lack the latter, and will be having to help the others in the class with theirs, I think a feature-length screenplay is the most guaranteed way I can assure something of high quality in the time we have.
